Wenhaston Allotments

WENHASTON is a village of some 570 inhabitants situated close to the Suffolk coast in the river Blyth valley between Halesworth and Southwold.

Once there were three allotment areas in the village, and then there were none! In 2008 our group started to negotiate for a piece of land to bring an allotment back to life in the village.

This photo shows our field in February 2009 when we had ploughed it, done some fencing and fitted the gate: it also shows the markers for the individual plots. The communal shed will eventually go near the oak tree on the left towards the top. Note the style on the left.
This photo was taken from almost the same spot just five months later and shows a quite remarkable change. The oak tree is in leaf and the chimney just visible top right.
